ROMA TEATRO FESTIVAL is an international Festival addressed to Academies and professional Drama Schools willing to stage a show directed by the students/actors and supervised by the school itself. The Legge 180 Theatre Company is the Organizing Institution. The Festival, in 2005 it was acknowledged by the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and by ETI – Italian Theatre Board – and was bestowed with a silver medal by the President of the Italian Republic and in 2006 with a bronze medal by Senato della Repubblica Italiana – House of Lords – and with a silver medal by Camera dei Deputati – House of Commons.

CALL TO SCHOOL AND ACTORS

The Festival is open to young students/actors who, at personal cost, want to improve their skills by attending training academies. By getting the new generations of actors closer to the new generations of audience, the Festival provides the young artists with the opportunity to demonstrate and compare their talents and make a name for themselves. In this way they can have a taster of Show business outside Art school. This will be useful when they start their career as professional actors.

The Festival is also open to teachers who wants to showcase their work.

ENTER IN THE ROMA TEATRO FESTIVAL

Entry to the Festival is free. Every finalist has at his/her own disposal a night for his/her own show and free technical and artistic staff .

The Jury is made up of experts and professionals including journalists, casting agents, stage directors, producers, actors, film agents. On the award night The Golden Gemini will de awarded to: Best Production, Best Stage Direction, Best Art Direction, Best Choreography, Best Voice, Best Actress, Best Actor. Moreover, the organizing Institution, Legge180, will award the Special Prize Style on Stage and the Special Prize Sofia Amendolea. By promoting cooperation and twinings, the Festival aims to create a truly international Festival and it is for this reason that, in 2005, the ROMATEATRO NETWORK THEATRE CIRCUIT was born. This has made it possible for groups from different countries to compete against each other and showcase their work on the international stage.

The Festival JURY is made up of a teachers representative of the competing Academies/Schools. They will abstain from voting for their own productions. In order to guarantee the complete impartiality of the voting procedure, the Organization, supervised by the Legge 180 Theatre Company, will ensure the presence of external jury members from the world of showbusiness such as actors, authors, directors, casting agents and journalists.

The GEMINI D’ORO symbolises the Star Sign. It has been chosen as the symbol of the actor who is divided between stage and life. Starting from 2005, thanks to a successful cooperation with the artist Tommaso Garavini, the GEMINI D’ORO has become a unique sculpture. It is now the emblem and logo of ROMATEATROFESTIVAL. This symbol embodies the meaning of ROMATEATROFESTIVAL; it is the beginning of a new cultural era enhanced by the strong passion shown by those involved in the Festival. This new “era” overcomes the boundaries of the festival competition in order to embrace the comparison, the dialogue and the mutual exchange among the didactic structures of the Show Business. The first new GEMINI D’ORO was put on display in Rome during the press conference for the presentation of ROMATEATRO NETWORK THEATRE CIRCUIT on February 23, 2006.

On the Award Night, the GEMINI D’ORO will be awarded to:

BEST PRODUCTION
BEST STAGE DIRECTION
BEST CHOREOGRAPHY
BEST ACTRESS
BEST ACTOR
